WhatsApp Beta Testing New Status Sharing on Web and Companion Devices: Here’s What’s Coming!

 

WhatsApp is broadening its functionality by introducing the ability to share status updates not only from the primary mobile app but also from linked companion devices and the web interface. Users enrolled in the beta testing programs for WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for Android are currently among the first to experience this novel feature, allowing them to post status updates seamlessly from their secondary devices.

 

WhatsApp’s Expanded Functionality: Users can now share status updates not just from their primary mobile app but also from companion devices and the web interface.

 

Companion Device Access: WhatsApp’s companion mode allows access to chats on up to four additional devices, even when the primary smartphone isn’t online, ensuring uninterrupted communication.

 

Web Interface Enhancement: Updates to the WhatsApp Web beta version permit direct status sharing from the web client’s Status section, offering users the ability to post photos, videos, or text-based updates.

 

Companion Device Status Sharing: Future updates will enable direct status updates from linked companion devices, enhancing their functionality beyond chats.

 

WhatsApp for iPad: WhatsApp is testing a specialized version for iPad, expanding its reach across different device categories and potentially widening its user base.
