Nothing Secures $200M Funding Led by Tiger Global, Plans AI Ecosystem Expansion With New Devices in 2025

UK-based consumer tech company Nothing has successfully raised $200 million (approx. ₹1,760 crore) in its Series C funding round, led by Tiger Global alongside major global investors. With this latest round, the company’s total funding now stands at $450 million (approx. ₹3,960 crore), valuing Nothing at around $1.3 billion (₹11,444 crore). Building on this momentum, Nothing announced ambitious plans to introduce multiple AI-native devices in 2025, signaling a bold shift towards the future of artificial intelligence-powered consumer technology.

Nothing’s AI Vision

CEO Carl Pei emphasized that the new funding will be crucial for developing a next-generation AI-native platform, seamlessly integrating hardware and software into a “single intelligent system.” Unlike traditional operating systems, Nothing’s approach aims to leverage AI to create hyper-personalized, context-aware interfaces that evolve with user needs.

Pei highlighted that future operating systems will not be confined to smartphones but will expand across multiple device categories, adapting dynamically to user behavior and environment. These innovations are expected to shape devices that can generate interfaces on demand, offering assistance when and where users need them most.

Investors and Strategic Partnerships

The Series C round was spearheaded by Tiger Global, with continued support from existing investors including GV, Highland Europe, EQT, Latitude, I2BF, and Tapestry. In addition, Nothing gained fresh strategic backing from Zerodha Co-Founder and CFO Nikhil Kamath and Qualcomm Ventures.

While the exact roles of these new strategic partners were not disclosed, their inclusion signals strong market confidence in Nothing’s vision of combining AI, design, and consumer technology into a cohesive product ecosystem.

AI-Native Devices: Beyond Smartphones

Carl Pei has long advocated for reimagining the smartphone era, and his vision extends to a traversal operating system that supports a variety of devices. He noted that while smartphones remain powerful, they cannot always serve users in every scenario—such as when hands are full or when quick, context-driven responses are needed.

To address this, Nothing confirmed plans to launch its first AI-native devices in 2025. Although specific product categories remain under wraps, Pei suggested that these devices will:

Complement smartphones rather than replace them.

Be available at the user’s moment of need with context-aware responses.

Capture inputs across multiple modalities (voice, vision, environment, and touch).

Generate adaptive interfaces on demand, powered by AI.

In the longer term, Nothing envisions its AI-native OS scaling across smart glasses, humanoid robots, and even electric vehicles (EVs)—expanding the company’s reach into futuristic product categories.

Industry Context

The move towards AI-native devices reflects a larger industry trend where major tech companies, including Apple, Google, and Samsung, are increasingly integrating AI-powered features into devices and services. However, Nothing’s strategy of building a dedicated AI-native ecosystem sets it apart from competitors, placing it among the few brands aiming to develop an OS-first approach for the AI era.

Conclusion

With fresh capital and high-profile investor backing, Nothing is poised to take bold steps in reshaping the future of consumer technology. The upcoming AI-native devices, expected in 2025, represent the company’s most ambitious leap yet, potentially redefining how consumers interact with technology in everyday life.

If Carl Pei’s vision becomes reality, Nothing may establish itself as one of the pioneers in AI-driven hardware ecosystems, extending far beyond smartphones to shape the future of personalized and intelligent devices.
