Intel Collaborates with Indian Electronics Manufacturers to Enhance Laptop Production and Support ‘Make in India’ Initiative

 

Intel has teamed up with eight Indian Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) companies and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) to enhance laptop production in India, supporting the ‘Make in India‘ initiative.

 

Collaboration Details:

 

Intel’s Collaborative Effort: The tech giant is partnering with Bhagwati Products Ltd, Dixon Technologies India Ltd, Kaynes Technology India Ltd, Optiemus Electronics Ltd, Panache Digilife Ltd, Smile Electronics Ltd, Syrma SGS Technology Ltd, and VVDN Technologies Private Ltd to bolster laptop manufacturing in India.

 

Meeting the Growing Demand: This collaboration seeks to address the surging demand for laptops, both in the Indian and global markets.

 

Intel’s Expertise: Intel will share its technological knowledge and experience to support the production of entry-level laptops in India.

 

Quality Enhancements: Intel will assist in deploying advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly lines, implementing quality control procedures for components, and setting benchmarks for the finished products.

 

Support for SKD and CKD Processes: The collaboration will aid ODMs in both Semi Knocked Down (SKD) and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) processes.

 

Government Vision and Support:

Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, commended this partnership, emphasizing its alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to boost India’s Digital Economy to $1 trillion, with a $300 billion contribution from the electronics manufacturing sector by 2025-26.

 

Intel’s Commitment:

Santhosh Viswanathan, Vice President and Managing Director of Intel’s India Region, highlighted Intel’s dedication to fostering electronic manufacturing capabilities in India and contributing to the nation’s technological progress.

 

Upcoming India Tech Ecosystem Summit:

Intel is set to host the India Tech Ecosystem Summit in November, providing a platform for local manufacturers to showcase a broader range of devices produced in India. This collaboration opens up promising opportunities for India’s electronics manufacturing industry. Intel is committed to expanding access and opportunities in India’s technology ecosystem, working closely with the government, industry players, and startups to drive significant advancements in the country’s technology sector.
